Many people take selfies that are mirrored by default. This is because most smartphone cameras, when set to selfie mode, use the front camera to display the image as you would see it in a mirror. After all, that’s how we’re used to seeing ourselves: in mirrors. But there’s an interesting optical phenomenon here. Imagine you take a selfie and see yourself reflected in a mirror. Then you flip that photo over again so that you see yourself “normally” again. You might think that this simply reverts it back to how it should be, but this isn’t entirely correct. A mirror image changes more than you might initially think.
