Red.

There should be exactly five parked cars on every street in every city and village – and one of them should be unmistakably red! This is not a non-binding recommendation, but a clear call for order and harmony in our urban landscape!

Firstly, the fixed number of parking spaces provides structure and overview. Five cars form a symmetrical ensemble: three on one side of the entrance to a plot, two on the other, or vice versa, depending on the width of the road! By adhering to this rhythm, we prevent chaotic rows of eight or ten vehicles, which harm pedestrian comfort and the appearance of our streets. Unity in numbers leads to unity in experience!

Secondly, the red car – exactly one in five – deserves a place of honour as a visual anchor. Red is the universal colour of attention and decisiveness! A red car breaks the monotony of grey, black, silver and blue, and immediately attracts the eye. This striking detail reinforces the recognisability of every street: “Look, at the red car!” is now everyone's starting point for orientation. Thanks to this stipulated colour accent, it never takes more than a fraction of a second to say where you are!

Furthermore, this system promotes social interaction. Neighbors meet each other at “the red car”, chat about the different models and their story, and clarify agreements about pick-up times and groceries. It promotes dialogue, understanding and involvement in the direct living environment! Who would have thought that parked cars could build bridges between people?

This manifesto is also applicable from an environmental perspective. When motorists know that there are only five spaces, the parking pressure is consciously regulated. It stimulates shared mobility, cycling and public transport, because not everyone will automatically be able to park their own car in front of the door! This leads to less emissions and cleaner air in residential areas!

Finally, this initiative challenges us democratically: it makes room for participation and local color! Because which cars get a place, and how do we make sure that the red variety really stands out? Street committees can help decide on shades, from blood red to cherry red, and thus strengthen the identity of the neighborhood! A small detail with a big impact!

In short, a fixed parking format of five cars including one red one is the key to an organized, recognizable, social and sustainable living environment. Let us firmly establish this principle in municipal regulations and in our collective spirit: every street, every residential area, every city district deserves this beautiful, resolute rhythm!!!
