The traditional game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” has been a favorite pastime for generations. The rules are simple: rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, and paper beats rock. But what if we made the game a little more complex?
Here we introduce an extended version with five concrete objects and associated hand gestures.
1. Sponge
Hand gesture: Hand open, fingers wide apart, as if holding a sponge.
- Absorbs water and beats sand.
- Cut by the scissors and trampled by the boot.
2. Water jug
Hand gesture: Fist with thumb up, as if holding a jug.
- Put out fire and rust the scissors.
- Is absorbed by sponge and cannot withstand the force of the stone.
3. Boot
Hand gesture: Stomping movement downwards, as if you were trampling something.
- Tramples the sponge and defeats sand.
- Is cut by the scissors and covered by paper.
4. Sand
Hand gesture: Fingers down loosely, as if dropping sand.
- Smothers fire and damages the water pitcher.
- Is overpowered by the stone and trampled by the boot.
5. Fire
Hand gesture: Fingers spread wide apart and raised, as if flames are coming from your hand.
- Burns paper and sponge.
- Is extinguished by water from the water can and suffocated by sand.
These new moves and their interactions with the original moves provide a game full of strategic depth. The addition of concrete objects and hand gestures makes the game visually richer and even more fun to play. Knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of each move is essential, as is the ability to anticipate the opponent's move.
