Language.

The Dutch language is an indispensable treasure of our culture and identity. Dutch is a language spoken and loved by millions of Dutch people. That is why it is important to protect and preserve the Dutch language and its rich history and traditions.

However, the fact that English is increasingly used in our society makes it necessary to consider how we can make Dutch more accessible to non-Dutch speakers. A possible solution to this could be to translate each Dutch word into English individually, so that Dutch people continue to speak Dutch, but other languages understand it.

Let's look at some examples to illustrate this:

  1. “Supermarket” could be translated to “Supermarket”.
  2. “Traffic Lights” could be translated to “Traffic Lights”.
  3. “Public Transport” could be translated to “Public Transport”.
  4. “Library” could be translated to “Library”.
  5. “Municipal Council” could be translated to “Municipal Council”.

This would not mean that we have to replace the Dutch language with English, but that we improve communication and comprehensibility, without giving up our Dutch identity and culture. In addition, it would be an excellent opportunity for Dutch people to improve their English, which would enable them to better communicate with the rest of the world.

It is important to emphasize that we must remain committed to protecting and preserving the Dutch language and culture. By translating each Dutch word into English on its own, we can strike a balance between accessibility and preserving our Dutch identity.

Let's continue to cherish and protect the Dutch language and culture, while at the same time continuing our efforts to be better understood by people from other countries and cultures.
